360 Networks: Bristol

Back in October 2000, when the Internet Boom was in full swing, Canada’s 360Networks were spending big and rolling out globally. As part of their network rollout, a Bristol PoP was established within Bristol’s Bandwidth triangle of bandwidth in St Phillips.

Bang in the middle is Unit D Kingsland Trading Estate St Philips Road where the (Planning Application) was sought and the PoP was installed. This was however short-lived as just a few years later in 2004, the warehouse was vacated and a new, non-telecoms tenant was moved in.

We’re keen to find out what the streetside unit (as shown in the far right in the main picture) is for, as it looks like its still in service but planning shows Atlantic Telecommunications Limited building this in Aug 2000. Further investigation needed.
