Blackpool prime site for new Aqua Comms submarine cable

The new CeltixConnect-2 cable, which is being built by submarine cable provider Aqua Comms will provide 60ms latency from Blackpool to New York, it will also expand to Denmark and play a role in their north atlantic ring network. This major build is nearing closer and will be another, welcomed upgrade to transatlantic capacity.

They also plan to build over 3 million sq ft of data centre space on the UK site, likely to be at the new landing station site. It’s also believed that the consortium of partners include Facebook, Google and Bulk Infrastructure helped fund this project which may be built within the Blackpool Enterprise Zone, a government backed industrial site which will provide tax breaks and support to entice local businesses.
